New 2024 Title IX Regulations

On April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education released new Title IX regulations governing sex discrimination in educational institutions.  The new regulations are effective on August 1, 2024.  All public and private elementary and secondary schools, school districts, colleges, and universities receiving federal funds must comply with the new Title IX regulations by this date.  The attorneys at Shults Law Firm have significant, relevant experience to assist institutions with compliance under these regulations. 

Some of the significant changes to Title IX include:

·         “Sex discrimination” now includes sexual orientation and gender identity

·         More specific training mandates

·         Increased flexibility on hearing model or use of investigator

·         “Severe or pervasive” standard instituted

·         Removal of geographic limitations for Title IX jurisdiction
